There is always something happening all year rounds. For most events you can buy tickets online at www.ticketpro.cz Tickets are sometimes available at the door but it is advisable to book online specially if intending using your credit card.

Prague Winter Festival – Starting first week in January, lasts one week.  www.praguewinterfestival.com

One Wold International Film Festival Beginning of March www.jedensvet.cz

Febiobest Starting at the end of March, an independent film festival features more then 500 movies. Many are movies with English subtitles. www.febiofest.cz

Matejska Pout The St Matthew’s Fair marks the arrival of warm weather, featuring cheesy rides for children at Prague’s exhibition grounds Vystaviste. Admission is 50 CZK. During February and March, Location: Vystaviste, Holesovice, Prague 7

Witches’ Night On 30th April - This festival marks the end of winter and new birth to the spring. Bonfires are lit to purge the winter spirits. Mostly find at countryside but can be seen at Petrin Hill in Prague as well.

Prague International Marathon Date: May, route throughout the city. Join the other runners from all around the world. After the run finish, be prepared for great street party. The whole race has 42 km (26 mile) but you can take sort option at the 10km (6mil) race. You have to pay registration fee of 300 to 600 CZK www.pim.cz

Prague Writers Festival For all literati lovers come to hear reading of extracts and hobnob. It is your chance to see Czech literal idols. www.pwf.pragonet.cz

Khamoro At the end of May you can visit International festival of gypsy culture. Festival features concerts, seminars and workshops. www.khamoro.cz

Prague Spring Festival 12th May – 3rd June. Well famous series of classical music and dance performances. Enjoy a best symphony, opera and chamber music form talented artists. www.festival.cz

Dance Prague (Tanec Praha) In June don’t miss international festival of contemporary dance and movement theatre. Now this festival is one of the most successful in Prague. www.tanecpraha.cz

International Jazz Festival Commence last week in October. If you like jazz this festival shouldn’t be missed. Festival is held in several venues across Prague but mostly at Lucerna Music Bar. www.jazzfestivalpraha.cz

St Nicholas’s Eve Date 5 Dec, Mostly celebrated at city centre. People are wandering at streets in threesomes, dressed as St Nicholas, an angel and a devil, symbolising confession, reward and punishment. Grown man that day are stick to the beer drinking hobby.

New Year’s Eve (Silvester) On 31st December head for spectacular fireworks and a mellower pace at Prague Castle or Vysehrad. For great festivities go to the Old Town Square where live big screening and other performances are held. Other places where to go are Wenceslas Sq., Old and New Town. Be prepared for streets packed crowds of tourists and champagne bottles to be smashed everywhere.
