A fortification called the Hunger Wall was built on the edge of the Lesser Town under the orders of Charles IV in 1360¬62. Nearly 1200 meters of the wall with castellation and an ambit for sentry had been preserved. The Wall leads from Újezd along PetÅ™ín to Strahov. The name Hunger Wall arose during its construction: Charles IV ordered to build it to provide work for the poor during the famine years.
