PRAGUE GUIDE

The location of the Czech Museum of Music is in the former Baroque church of St. Maria Magdalena in Lesser Town, built in the 17th century according to a project by Francesco Caratti. The permanent exhibition: Man – Instrument – Music presents musical instruments from abundant collections of the National Museum, as well as other precious sources concerning Czech and European musical history. Your visit of the museum will be accompanied by listening to world greatest musical creations.

Earphones are available for those interested, offering sound reproduction of original recordings made on the historical instruments displayed. Immense atrium is also used as concert hall. Guests have the chance to see how music for different instruments was to be written down: how and on which occasions the instruments were played. Written explanations, a guide that will present the exhibited objects and also the possibility to hear the original sounds made by the instruments will make it worth the visit.
