Lobkowicz Palace

Built in 1570, this palace houses an exquisite collection of Czech history and old master paintings by Canaletto, Brueghel, Velázquez and others. You can admire there one of the most important collections of arms in Central Europe and original manuscripts by Mozart and Beethoven.

There is also a toy museum with the world second largest collection of toys that is stretching back to Ancient Greece. Opposite the Lobkowicz Palace and neighbouring the Black Tower you notice the Supreme Bulgrave's House.

During a recent visit to Prague we were especially delighted with our visit to the Lobkowicz Palace. We had had our tour's "farewell dinner" on the terrace of the palace overlooking all of Prague. Because of an introduction to the palace provided that evening by one of the curatorial staff we decided to return the following day. The building is impressive; however, the variety of art work, collectibles and the interweaving of the art with the history of the Lobkowicz family as narrated by the current scion of the family made the collection especially delightful and educational. We completed our visit with a concert of classical music. A must-see for visitors to Prague.
