Non-EU visitors are eligible for tax-free shopping at selected shops and department stores in Prague. Look out for "Tax-Free Shopping" signs and you can save up to 14% Value Added Tax on purchases. To qualify, your total purchases in one day in one store must exceed 2000 CZK. You need to pay for the goods in full first and then claim the tax back when you leave the country. When paying at the checkout, ask the sales assistant for a tax-free shopping voucher. Before leaving the Czech Republic give the voucher to the customs official at Prague Airport (situated before passport control). This must be done within 30 days from the date of purchase in order to obtain a stamp from customs officials. After you pass passport control in the duty free shopping zone, hand over your voucher to the assistants at some of the duty free shops. They will issue your VAT back less their commission.
