Basilica of St. George
St. George's Basilica is just next to the Royal Palace. It is Prague's oldest Romanesque structure, dating from the 10th century and houses Bohemia's first convent. The convent no longer serves a religious function and has been converted into a gallery of Gothic Czech art. Some remarkable works on display by Bohemian painters are the Bust of the Talking Apostle painted in 1725 by Petr Brandl, and Self Portrait by Jan Kupecký. There are also two delightful landscapes by Roland Savery.

St. George's Basilica is just next to the Royal Palace. It is Prague's oldest and best preserved Romanesque structure, dating from the 10th century. Founded by Prince Vratislav 1 (915-921) it was extended in 973 when a new Convent of Church of St. George was built in its vicinity. After a big fire in 1142, the basilica was reconstructed.
