Called ‘High' for the lofty position of its prayer room located on the second floor of the building, this synagogue was built in the 16th century and was financed by Mordechai Maisel, mayor of the Jewish Quarter. Designed by P. Roder in Renaissance style it was used as a preaching place for councillors from the Jewish Town Hall.
