Policka
Polička is a small town on the Bohemia-Moravia borderline, about 17km west of Svitavy. Polička is the prime gateway to the Žďár Hill, one of the most beautiful parts of the Czech-Moravian Highlands. The dominant feature of the city is St James' Church. Internationally famous composer Bohuslav Martinů was born and grew up in a little room in its tower, and his birthplace is open to the public. The Bohuslav Martinů Centre in Polička houses a new exhibition about the life and work of the composer, as well as displays detailing the history of the area and exhibitions of the fine local glasswork.
Tip: During a visit to Policka we recommend that you visit nearby Castle Svojanov, which is only 17km away.

The picturesque town of Polička is in the Bohemian-Moravian Highlands. It boasts a long history and a whole number of preserved historic sites. It was founded back in the year 1265 by Přemysl Otakar II. The old town centre is still surrounded by massive stone walls, the construction of which began in the 14th century.
