Waterworks Museum
This monumental building was built in 1927-1929 at the location of old water plants from 1885, and designed by the architect Antonín Engel along with the Prague Waterworks Design Department. Podolska Vodarna is one of the most significant Prague industrial buildings.
Permanent Exhibition.
The whole exhibition maintains the chronological order of the historic development of the Prague waterworks. On display is the private water pipeline of the Vltava water plants, dating from the 12th Century of the renaissance era, the water plant efforts at the end of the 19th Century and finally the contemporary distribution of water to the City of Prague. The exhibition also includes the 1930's original pump machine of the Klatovy water plant, as well as the water pipes from the Rudolf II. Era. Three-dimensional objects are complemented with a number of copies of the unique, never yet exhibited archive materials and a number of historical photographs. On display are collections of various types of water pipes and closing elements. A unique collection of water meters is exhibited separately.
