A beautiful place with stunning architecture and great food. "Prague never lets you go..." Franz Kafka said this of his city. If you come here for a weekend break you quickly realize why.
The Czech Republic. Czechoslovakia separated in 1993 to form 2 states: the Czech Republic and Slovakia. Today, the Czech Republic is one of the 25 EU states under the Schengen treaty. The population of Prague totals approximately 1,200,000. The official language is Czech but the people also speak English, German and Russian.
Tourists visiting the Czech Republic are mostly from Germany, UK and the USA, although more and more Italians, Spanish, Russians, Japanese and even Chinese are now visiting the country. Tourism makes up 5 per cent of the country's GNP.
