Christmas Markets in Prague will Start on 26th November
- 11-26-2011
Prague’s annual Christmas markets are traditionally held in the Old Town Square and Wenceslas Square. This year they will be opened on the 26th November, which is also the beginning of the advent season. At the same time a huge Christmas tree will be erected, which will decorate Prague city until January. This tree, over 22 metres high and set against a dark gothic skyline, will be lit up on the Old Town Square during the opening of the Christmas market, and will stay there until it finishes on 1st January. At Wenceslas Square, the market will stay open until 8th of January. On weekdays, the markets will be open from 9am till 7pm, and during the weekends they will stay open until 8pm (food stands unti midnight). Prague Christmas markets are part of everyone’s visit to Prague during this time. It is a wonderful treat to enjoy various shows, taste traditional Czech food, grab a warm drink, soak up the atmosphere, and buy handmade souvenirs and crafts.
