The Christmas Markets Began as the Christmas Tree in Prague Was Lit up, Accompanied by the Fairy Tales of Krkonoše

Probably one of the most famous Prague Christmas markets, which is visited by tourists from all over the world and regularly appears in various travel tips and ranks highly every year in international comparisons, starts on 30 November 2019 and ends on 6 January 2020.

In the markets, you will find dozens of charming wooden stalls on the Old Town Square offering souvenirs and various delicacies, including Prague ham. Children will certainly want to see the crib and mini zoo, while adults will taste the trdelník and punch.

Decorations connect this year’s Christmas Markets at the Old Town Square, Wenceslas Square and Republic Square with angels. The ornaments are gold, white, red and green. The kiosks have been all newly repaired. There will also be live potted trees in the markets that will be planted in Prague’s parks after their completion.

In addition to the stalls, there are planned accompanying programs on the stage on Old Town Square, where 4500 people will perform during this Christmas markets season. Over 170 performances are ready to be watched. There are also several photo corners on the Old Town Square – a snowy village, a giant advent wreath or Cinderella’s slipper.

The stalls on Old Town Square, Wenceslas Square and Republic Square are open every day from 10.00 to 22.00, and selected refreshment vendors will serve visitors until midnight. The Republic Square will end on December 30, while the other two places will be in operation by January 6.
